Okay, so /is/ Canadian political humour, so maybe I'm stretching it a bit to think that anyone else would get a kick out of this...

Oh, whatever.

The article itself isn't funny, but click on the little blue camcorder (beside text that says "VIDEO") and watch the commercial. Stephen Harper is the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada. There's an election going on here, for those who don't know. :D And basically the party currently in government, the Liberals, are attacking the Conservatives. Typical political stuff, right? Eh. Just watch the video... It's funny, even if you don't know who Stephen Harper is. Just know that he's a politician.

The ad actually ran on TV a couple of days ago.

A real ad.

On Canadian TV.

I did not make this up.

Edit:

LOL! There's MORE!

Dun dun DUUUUUUUUUun. Du nuh nuhnuhnuhnuhnuuuuuh. xD Actually, I'm pretty against Harper, so I'm not too surprised if it is true. xD

Social Safety Net is awesome. xD "Don't feel bad for Canadian's unemployed. They don't feel bad about it themselves." xDDDD

Heh. Living in Alberta... well, pretty much the whole province votes Conservative. Every election. You could put a lawn chair up for MP and it would get voted in...

Ehh. ^^ True or not, those commercials crack me up. The thing about the military (Canadian soldiers. In Canadian cities. Soldiers with guns. In Canada.) was totally misinterpreted, though. Harper had said that he wanted to help fund the military program so that if domestic aid was necessary (i.e. rescue missions and the like) then the military would be well-equipped and able to respond to it quickly. The Liberals decided that putting the words "domestic" and "army" in the same sentence meant he was going to set soldiers loose in the streets.

Yep. I'm not sure of the exacts of the story, but that's what I was told by my social studies teacher. (She's totally dependable, btw. She loves politics.)
