Title: Dodgy tattoo alert!

Dilemma! A friend of mine just got a tattoo, and sent me a photo this morning. I asked another friend what it meant, since he had told me it meant 'strength', and it looked dodgy. It didn't look much like the one I found on google for 'strength'... but I thought, what's more reliable, a tattoo artist, or google search! That could mean anything. So I ask my friend, anyway. She glances at it once, shakes her head, says 'Nope, that's not any kind of kanji I know'. She's not fussed. She doesn't realise I know this boy. So I explain who it is, and all that, and she laughs and goes back to the picture, and after a few minutes is like; 'well, if you turned it round and took out that random stroke, it says 'Rice'.
Oh, great. xDDD It shouldn't be hilarious, but it really is!

Do I:
Tell him it says 'rice', so he can have it changed, covered, removed? Or so he'll know, when people laugh at him? Tell him it's not right, but not mention 'rice'? Or not mention it at all? Because not many people are going to understand it, are they?
He thinks he's so sexy. Every time I see him now, I just want to laugh.

Aw, babe.... Tell the guy about his tattoo. I hate it when people do that.. The tattoo artist might've just done it to mess with him, or might be oblivious.

Heh. I would've looked this up before I got the tattoo (although, I've taken six years of Japanese, I would be able to tell.)

I would've done! I mean, I wouldn't stupidly get a tattoo in a language i don't even speak, because there's absolutely no point and those kanji tattoos look so tacky. THey belong on fat chav men. xD But the least you can do if you're going to be a fat chav man is look the bugger up! It's so stupid. Arg. xD

But really? Tell him? You think if he goes to the artist- who from what I've heard is a pretty reputable guy, and not a cock- he was very nice to me when I met him- the guy might cover it up free, or cheap, because he just stamped 'rice' on his arm?!
I think he should! *incensed, but hysterical*

See, if he does get it fixed, what could very well happen, is that the second artist, will charge him MORE than what he initally paid for. My artist, Scott Clark (who has done all three of mine, and will be designing my fourth) knows there is another tattoo artist who is very... iffy in town.

If you go from Harvey (other tattoo artist) to Scott, with a messed up design, he will ask you how much you paid, and wind up charging you more.

Still... matter of opinion, any self respecting tattoo artist, if they know something will look like crap, or won't reccommend it, then they will TELL you. Otherwise, it kills their rep.

My artist has redesigned serveral of my tattoos, actually.

I'd have thought, considering it was this guy's mistake in the first place, he'd fix it for free...? Mind you, how would I know? xD
Don't have any tattoos myself; I'm going to get one to congratulate myself, when I get my weight right. xD Weird incentive.
