Title: Mirage Ventrilo Server
Grey Death - December 31, 2005 05:05 PM (GMT)
I've opened up the SPG Ventrilo for all of Mirage to use. Even you guys who no longer play SWG, feel free to make use of it, stop in and say "Hi" or whatever.
Just a few words first. I'm paying a monthly fee on this, and it's limited to 50 users at a time. (No, I don't need anyone to help me pay for it -- not yet anyway, but if I ever do, I won't hesitate to ask, trust me :P) We've never had anywhere near that number logged on at once, but I just wanted to let you all know there *IS* a limit to what it supports at the current level.
To use it, you will need to go to the download page at www.ventrilo.com and download the CLIENT software (not the server) After you install it, you will need to setup the following info:
Server Name: radium.fusionvoice.com
ServerIP: 69.9.34.138
Port Number: 3796
Password: (check your in game email -- or send me a PM through these forums requesting it. I'd rather not post it on a public forum :P)
You may need to tweak a few settings from there, but for the most part once you enter the above info, you're ready to go.
You are not required to use this service if you don't want to, or maybe feel uncomfortable with it. It would be cool, and I think it'll make space communication during combat MUCH easier.
If you feel uncomfortable using it, you can still make communications easier by loading it up, and when you log on, just add a comment (using the comment button) saying “no mic” and we’ll know that you can hear, but not speak, and we’ll have to look for your responses in the chat window.
I urge you all to at least try it, and see how it goes. If you feel it helps your play, great, if you feel it gets in the way, then only use it when we really need to have instant communication, like important missions. I, for one, dislike using it for meetings, and mostly turn it off during guild meetings. But I’ve found it very, very useful most of the other times, and has never got in the way of my RP’ing either.
My only demand on those that use it is to be considerate of others and to use the name we’ll recognize the most, so we know who’s logging on and off. I’ve set up multiple rooms for the guilds and general use, but the private room at the top is for my personal use, since I occasionally use it to talk to some friends who don’t play.
Also, remember that what you say will likely be played out of folks speakers. There are a few younger citizens in Mirage, as well as a number of us with children, and I’d hate to have anyone not being able to use it because a few of us couldn’t restrain ourselves.

Guess I should get on more now that more people will be using it.
It has been just me, Grey, Das, and Sunstreak for like the past 2 months lol.

To switch rooms, just double click on the room you want to enter.

Just bumping this, also if I didn't send anyone the password, request again (or better yet PM or email me through these boards, that tends to stand out a bit more for me).
Also, if you find that you log in and it's empty, unless you got somewhere else to go, just wait. I find that often someone logs in, see's no one htere and after a minute or two, leaves. The next person logs in, and *THEY* now see no one on, and it goes on and on like that :P
