Disgaea Hour of Darkness
Consule-PS2
Type-RPG, Strategy
Release date-2003
Rated-Teen.
This game is about a Young demon boy named Laharl. His father was the Overlord (Keeper or king of hell) But he died(Chocking on a pretzel). Laharl than woke up after two years to find out his father is dead and he must take the thorn. Laharl has a guardian (Kinda friend) who helps you out, her name is Etna. Laharl is now back on his feat and is ready to take over Hell and become overlord.
This game was looked past by a lot of people because the graphics were Game Boy Advance ones. Now at first I was upset at that but after the first stage this game picks up it’s lost it graphics from it’s strategy and Moves. The character’s weapon lets them learn different kind of special moves. You can choose weapons such as Swords, Bows, Axes, and staffs and much more.
The games story takes on a more comedy wise story. It makes your laugh at some parts but than on others make you want to kill one of the characters. With Mix feelings this game gets even better. The story is deep, with 21 stages, and with each stage comes each 4-6 levels. You later on in more levels find more friends and make a army.
What people love about the game is you can make characters. Each person you kill you get some Mana, and the more Mana you get the more characters you can make. You can also make different kinds of Characters. Warriors, archers, healers, black mage, and much more. As you go along in the story you get more people and even monsters, such as lions, dragons, and one eyed creatures.
I have this game for about a week and a half, and I played a good 40 hours and I’m only on stage 13. The story up to here becomes more serious as you must become overlord to than fight against heaven and even earth. This game is at least a good 100 hour game if you want to unlock everything. I recommend this game to anyone who likes RPG’s or Strategy games.
Rating-B+ (85-90)
Game play-95 – I love the game play. You have to think smart and you must make an army fit to that level.
Graphics-80-85 – I don’t mind the Graphics, I like them, but a lot of people want to see final fantasy Graphics not Game boy ones, this is were it losses a lot of points.
Story-95 – I love this story. It makes your laugh a lot, plus it makes you think that the next boss is going to be though. The story begins to get deep where I am at, Stage 13, but even so the story so far is great.
Controls-100 – Can’t complain, simple, easy, and fun.
Price-80 – I say this because it’s been out for a year and it’s still 40 bucks. I bough it off my friend for 30 but I would have bought it before if I knew how much I liked it, even for 40 bucks.
