Hi guys! I thought I'd start a new topic about this really original and great show on Nickeloden. I think before the board was wiped fairtytalenightmares had posted a topic about this same thing, but I thought I would open up a new post about it now so that newcomers can also talk about this show. I don't watch Nick, but I was flipping through the channels last week and they had a marathon of this show on. and since I had heard about it from that topic on this board, I thought I would watch it for a couple minutes and see what I thought. It was SO good, I ended up watching like 5 episodes back to back. I wouldn't really call it anime, but the story line and characters are very "anime like", and I thought the show was really original and really sucked you in.

Inevitably somebody will ask what its about so I will give a very brief decription. Its set in a fictional world where there are four empires, the fire, wind, esrth and water empires. Each empire can "bend" their element, meaning they can manipulate it magically. The avatar is a very powerful person who is unique because he can master all the elements, and is the peacekeeper and balancer of the different empires. Everything was fine until the fire empire started attacking and conquering the other empires. At this same time the avatar vanished, so the whole world started fighting and the fire nation started dominating them all. Then a girl name Kitara and her brother named Saka (from the water tribe) discovered a little boy named Ang, and air bender. They soon realized that although he acted and looked young he was reallly over 100 years old and destined to be the next avatar. Together all three of them are trying to train Ang to become the avatar and confront the fire nation as soon as possible before they dominate the whole world. During this process they go to different places in their quest to train Ang and solve the mysteries of the last avatar's dissapearence.

This show is great, check it out! Two shows will be on Nick tonight (not sure what time cuz I'm at work) but if you're in America and have cable check it out!

i see bitz and pieces, itz alright, kind of kiddish, but then again it is nick, but not to bad at all.

Yeah because it is on Nick it is somewhat kiddish, but I was honestly surprised how sometimes it is very non kiddy. A lot about this show reminds me of Miyazaki movies, especially Ang's flying bison. Its also like Miayazaki in that is appeals to everyone, kids or non kids.

Af of now it plays kinda randomly on the network, but for sure they always air two episodes back to back on Friday nights. For me (central time zone) the episodes are at 6:30 and 7, so for the Eastern time zone it would be 7:30 and 8. I really urge you guys to check it out because it really is a diverse show, humor, adventure and lots of good battle scenes.

I don't even watch nick, but the show is alright. I saw it once on a commercial.

I was afraid it was to kiddish and no one even my age(15) would like it >.> but I like it...yes I like it. It's a great show, I always forget to check when it's on though so I've only seen a few episodes.

well im 16 and i like it, trust me no matter how old you are never be afraid to try to watch any show, give them a chance.

Well said, I agree :lol: I am 21, so my days of watching Nick are over, but I discovered this show while flipping through the channels, it was kinda an accident, but its a very good show that I now watch frequently. I wish they would make new episodes more freqently though. In theory its supposed to be a new one once a week, but they're usually re-runs. I don't think theres any danger of it being cancelled, but that said I really hope they don't cancel it. The story is really starting to build, so if it got cancelled I would always wonder what happened in the rest of the story.

I never really liked Nick, but Air Bender hasn't been as action packed lately.
