Title: Movie/Anime/Books/Games quotes

Wolf_Clan - June 8, 2005 09:16 PM (GMT)
To play, post a quote. the person below you has to guess where it came form and/or who said it. if it is in a movie, and there are sequels, then any of them can be used as an answer. here is an example!!

I'll be back.
The terminator said it in one of his 3 movies. *this part is for someone else to post, you just post the quote.*

Ok? Well here is the first one!

As I was going up the stair
I met a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
I wish I wish he stay away.

Apollo - June 10, 2005 01:10 AM (GMT)
Uh. Was it from the movie "Indentity"?

suicidal_hamster - June 10, 2005 09:48 AM (GMT)
...... hm ......
a game quote ay??

"tch...fine" (zell from ff8. i like to say that......)

that is all.....i will try and think of some more, but my brain might not be able to process that quickly.....

Wolf_Clan - June 10, 2005 07:36 PM (GMT)
yeah it was!!!! and it is in the book dreamcatcher written by stephen king!! wow i didn't think anyone would get it so fast!! :o

Teru-chan - June 14, 2005 12:58 PM (GMT)
heres one..movie.

Texas! Only Steers And queers come from texas!

emeraldartemis - June 14, 2005 10:38 PM (GMT)
I think thats from "An Officer and a Gentlemen" with Richard Gere, but I thought he said Oklahoma not Texas so maybe I'm wrong....

Next quote (from a movie): "All right copper top we don't have time for twenty questions"

Teru-chan - June 16, 2005 01:19 PM (GMT)
QUOTE

nope. Its from full metal Jacket.

QUOTE
Next quote (from a movie): "All right copper top we don't have time for twenty questions"

that would be The Matrix, I cant remember her name, but in the car when trinity says that they think neos bugged, shes the one with the gun.

emeraldartemis - June 16, 2005 11:21 PM (GMT)
You're right mon ami, it is from the Matrix and the character who says it is named Switch (strange side note, although shes a minor character she does some unique things, like shes the only one who wears white when they go into the Matrix...I've always wondered what that was all about).

Its funny that they use that same exact terminology in two different movies (although like I mentioned in Officer and a Gentlemen they say Oklahoma).

Okay next quote....hmm...gotta think of a good one....

"Do you find that this approach usually works? Or let me guess, you've never tried it before. In fact , you don't normally approach girls, am I right? The truth is that you're the quiet, sensitive type. But if I'm prepared to take a chance I might just get to know the inner you, witty, adventerous, passionate, loving, loyal, (pause while she hails a cab) a little bit crazy, a little bit bad, but hey, don't us girls just love that?"

(hint: if you really don't know where this is from, its from one of my favorite movies listed under that post of favorite non anime movies)

Wolf_Clan - June 18, 2005 08:26 PM (GMT)
The importance of being earnest?

emeraldartemis - June 18, 2005 09:16 PM (GMT)
Good guess seeing how I have two quotes from that play in my signature, and its one of my favorite plays (I haven't seen the recent film adaptation with Reese Witherspoon), but thats not it.

I thought I said it was a movie, but reviewing my post I realize I didn't say that until after I wrote the quote, so yup, its a movie. This is kinda a hard one, but if you've seen the movie its not that hard. But to give a hint; it was a movie made in the 90s. Okay maybe thats not a big enough hint......its set in Scotland. Okay, I'm not giving any more hints because already that last one made it really obvious.

If nobody gets if after this I will tell you guys what movie this is from

knives - June 20, 2005 06:16 PM (GMT)
i dont know either but i want to give a quote....

"Go ahead skin it..... skin that smoke wagon and see what happens"

emeraldartemis - June 21, 2005 02:28 AM (GMT)
Okay my movie quote is from Trainspotting, it comes from a great scene where Renton (the main character played by Ewan McGregor) meets his future girlfriend Diane (shes the one that says the quote).

As far as the last quote I have absolutely no idea.

Apollo - June 21, 2005 04:02 PM (GMT)
It's from Tombstone. :D

Here's one:

"Now is a time of great decision, Are we to stay or up and quit? There's no avoiding this conclusion: Our town is turning into sh*t. Amen."

emeraldartemis - June 22, 2005 12:27 AM (GMT)
Dunno....I get the feeling you've seen a lot of movies Apollo.

Apollo - June 22, 2005 01:12 PM (GMT)
Just ones that look interesting from the DVD case.

A hint: The quote I put is in a movie by the same guy that made Spaceballs.

Teru-chan - June 22, 2005 01:28 PM (GMT)
Is it Blazing Saddles?

Apollo - June 22, 2005 06:59 PM (GMT)
Yes. :D

Next Gen Cowboy - June 23, 2005 12:48 AM (GMT)
I guess that means I am up eh?

Ok I got one this is from one of my favorite movies

"Either he's alive or he's dead, or the cops got him... or they don't. "

Apollo - June 23, 2005 01:39 PM (GMT)
The answer is at the top of my head. I can remember the quote from somewhere. =/

emeraldartemis - June 23, 2005 10:28 PM (GMT)
Is that from Resevoir Dogs?

Next Gen Cowboy - June 24, 2005 01:19 AM (GMT)
QUOTE (emeraldartemis @ Jun 23 2005, 06:28 PM)

This is why we love you

You would be correct young one!

Of course someone has to post another quote, I do love movies and these kind of games.

Teru-chan - June 24, 2005 12:21 PM (GMT)
heres one for you NGC, its a movie,

"you and your f**king rope!"

c'mon NGC, you know this one.

Next Gen Cowboy - June 24, 2005 04:53 PM (GMT)
Ha yes great scene!

the Boondock saints is one of the best movies ever, dark comedy with brilliant lines, and brilliant scenes.

4saken - June 24, 2005 05:55 PM (GMT)
This ones probably a bit hard, but you might guess easier due to what it means.

"You do nothing that
is not inside of
yourself. The things
that you and others
can boast of are
boring. Boring
human, you're
merely getting
drunk on the power
of god, because it's
terrible knowing
nothing."

Wolf_Clan - June 24, 2005 08:46 PM (GMT)
I have no clue. It sounds like a good movie though!!! Her is a quote, i left the first line and the last word off though because it would give away the movie i got it from. One clue...Very old movie, was written as a play first, that clkue might give it away....

.........Deny thy father and refuse thy name;
Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,
And I'll no longer be a.....

emeraldartemis - June 26, 2005 03:59 AM (GMT)
Romeo and Juliet of course! And the missing words are Romeo and Capulet.

And as for 4saken's quote, I dunno.

Heres another quote for you to ponder from both a play and a movie

"Ask for me tomorrow and you shall find me a grave man"

Next Gen Cowboy - June 26, 2005 04:01 AM (GMT)
Merchant of Vennice

I should have posted a game qoute earlier

here goes one game one movie

The game qoute is from an older 2d fighter game (my favorite type) said by my favorite game character ever

"You cannot escape your own death" it may be a tough one but I will give you a hinmt, its an SNK game (although he has appeared in SNK vs Capcom as well)

Movie qoute

"It appears my hypocrisy knows no bounds. "

PSYCH! Trick questions, my quote is also from Romeo and Juliette, Mercucio says it to Romeo as he is dying after being stabbed by Tibalt. But Merchant of Venice was a good guess too considering the whole plot is about the Merchant wanting a pound of the main characters flesh to settle a debt.

NGC, your quotes have totally stumped me, although like Teruraku the last movie quote seems familiar.

Next Gen Cowboy - June 26, 2005 06:13 PM (GMT)
blast i was almost certain it was merchant, I had just ead it a few weeks ago but hey trying to get all the lines down in a play like that is tough, blast smoted again =p

My qoutes are pretty hard the game one is probably something only a few people would know off the top of there head, its a qopute from Gesse, boss of the fatal fury (garou) series and a really awsome character.

The movie one I still cannot tell you though.

A hint is this it is a western.

emeraldartemis - June 26, 2005 06:59 PM (GMT)
I've never actually played the Fatal Fury games, but I LOVE the anime movies they did for that series.

Okay, I'm gonna guess that your movie quote is from The Quick and the Dead, because Gene Hackman's character is pretty damn hypocritical, but thats just a guess.

Next Gen Cowboy - June 26, 2005 07:03 PM (GMT)
Doc Holiday rom tombstone (val kilmer was so awsome in that movie)

As for the fatal fury anime, I never actually got to see all of it, like they used to play it on TV a long time ago but I never got to see it all, might I ask who they battled in that show? It may be worth my time to rent it.

emeraldartemis - June 26, 2005 07:08 PM (GMT)
:o Thats really weird because I just watched Tombstone on TV yesterday, well parts of it because I was flipping around during the commericals.

Okay new quote! This is from a GREAT movie, but I warn you that I might not type it out exactly how it was said in the movie but if you've seen the movie theres no way you couldn't know this scene:

-"What're you feeding her?"

-"Blackroot."

-"Blackroot!?! You never ever feed a baby blackroot!"

-"My mother fed it to me when I was a baby, it puts hair on your chest!"

-"She's a princess! And the last thing shes gonna want is a hairy chest!" (takes the blackroot and throws it away)

- (talking to the baby) "He stole our black root!"

Next Gen Cowboy - June 26, 2005 07:10 PM (GMT)

Sorry had a stupid moment

 You're right! The quote was from Willow, one of the best movies ever! Right now I'm all quoted out so I'll give somebody else a chance to suggest one.

Wolf_Clan - June 27, 2005 10:32 PM (GMT)
ok, here is another really old one with that in mind, it should be easy to guess!

i left out the first part though cause that would give it away!

whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune or to take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing end them?

Apollo - June 28, 2005 01:34 PM (GMT)
I'm not quite sure about that one.. Hmm, I'll post a quote from a movie.

"If you dance with the devil, the devil don't change. The devil changes you."

Thats from Hamlet, its the speech Hamlet gives when contemplating whether he should kill Claudius to avenge his father's murder. It starts with the well known line "to be or not to be", and its a great scene ^_^

Okay the next one isn't really from a book or film, but its kinda one of those famous quotes from history. Anyone who knows who said this WITHOUT looking on google gets my respect for being a history buff. Okay the quote;

"Apres moi, le deluge"

bonus points for knowing in what context it was said

Next Gen Cowboy - July 4, 2005 04:18 PM (GMT)
The only hint I am giving people about the quote above is that it has something to do with king Louis I am not telling which one though

Just a heads up i ddint really know this one til a few weeks ago when we quotes were being thrown out, I have a friend who is going to become a history teacher and that kid knows dates, and history like no one I have ever met.

Well you pretty much just answered without answering it <_< But I guess you didn't give the exact answer or the context so I won't kill you....this time ^_^
