do you prefer older anime over the newest? some of the newest suck

Teru-chan - October 7, 2005 10:13 AM (GMT)
Old school kicks ass, but there some awesome new anime titles coming out of japan.

luna - October 7, 2005 06:22 PM (GMT)
it depends really. with me anyway. >_>

if i watch an anime i got to like the way it's drawn. if i can't stand the drawing i can't stand the anime.

Pakman2k3 - October 9, 2005 09:35 AM (GMT)
i perfer the older to the newer.

Teru-chan - October 16, 2005 12:53 PM (GMT)
I was just thinking, when you say 'older', exactly what year bracket are you talking about?

Elevate - October 16, 2005 05:56 PM (GMT)
Matters which anime.

Lion - October 16, 2005 07:40 PM (GMT)
Older anime, Preferrably before 2000 or before 1998.

DBZ is old school, YYH as well
Evangelion as well

Elevate - October 16, 2005 08:43 PM (GMT)
So RK, and CB too? these are all before 2000, berserk, well yeah alot of them are my favs but some new ones aare great to such as FMA, or samurai Champloo

Teru-chan - October 17, 2005 11:27 AM (GMT)
Pre 2000?! geez, when i talk oldschool, i mean at least the mid 80's.

Next Gen Cowboy - October 17, 2005 05:59 PM (GMT)
I break anime into areas like, 70's, 1980-1988 (akira changed everything in 88) then 89-95 and 96-2000 then post 2000

Reasons for this are revolutions, in the 70's Lupin and astro boy were king later things like gundam came out and chnged alot (Lupin still one of my favs) like I said the early 80's in my mind was not a good time bu the latter 80's (86-89) considered the golden age most shows had higher budget then the best shows of today (Akira took nearly 6 years to complete and as i said CHANGED everything)

The early 90's saw action shows like DBZ and YYH running rampent, things were all about explosions and fighting (obviously there were others but these are the big ones I get from that era) in the mid 90s (95-98) we saw a rebirth of the golden age, Bebop, Outlaw Star, Trigun all released in or around 98 and Evangelion berserk and some other greats in 96. This changed everythign this is my favorite era.

Modern shows I do not particular like there are some insanely great ones, Paranoia agent, Scryad, GTO, Golden Boy, and Last Exile being my favorites.

when I think of "old anime" thats more like 85-90. Like ranma, city hunter and genocyber which are classics. Id say I like the old more then new because they are these really long and very good series.

Alot of the new ones seem rushed and not as great. There are alot of really good ones around 2000 tho. Id have to say I like the old a bit more then the new in general.

I guess it depends on the genre your looking at, if you mean comedy animes then all around old and new are just good as hell. But if you look at action id say some of the best were 1985-2000. But if you look at drama/romace I would say 2000+ are the best.

Now that I gave a lot of thinkin, I consider old school, anything pre-2000.

Naruto is new school, even though sometimes looks old and long. it;s from 2002.

The unaired first season of YGO is old school

the hell freak - October 19, 2005 05:34 AM (GMT)
WHAT IS YGO?

Elevate - October 20, 2005 11:01 PM (GMT)
I believe Yu-gi-oh...and the old series is not old school...

Lion - October 21, 2005 12:47 AM (GMT)
It's Yugioh yes. and its old school. The unaired season is from 1996. YGO duel monsters is from 2000

Elevate - October 21, 2005 01:22 AM (GMT)
I know when it came out, but i don't see why you put oldschool before 2000...that's not old school, #### berserk i don't consider old school, or cowboy bebop....now lupin and dragon ball is old school.

Lion - October 21, 2005 02:40 AM (GMT)
Anything pre-2000 or 1998 is old school anime.

4saken - October 21, 2005 11:30 PM (GMT)
how about we just say astroboy and everything before it is old school :P

Elevate - October 22, 2005 12:55 AM (GMT)
How the hell u consider 2000 and below old school? You have a very weird way of thinking.

I said PRE 2000 NOT POST 2000.

Naruto is part of the new school since it premiered on 2002.
