YAHS! It was fantastic! I was so happy with how they adapted it from the book. I've never seen a book so faithfully adapted into film, they didn't leave anything out, thus the result was a fantastic movie because it was based on a fantastic book. The only thing that was kinda bad was Susan, shes SO annoying, but shes like that in the books too, so what could I really expect? Tilda Swinton ROCKED HE HOUSE as Jadis, I already had her down as one of my fav actresses, this just cemented her place on the list. I recommend this movie to EVERYONE!

Yeah I know they were supposed to be british, but I dunno.. The accents of the kids got me.
Anyway let's not drift off from Narnia, shall we?
Back on topic: Did you guys noticed the religious metaphors?
emeraldartemis - January 18, 2006 01:07 AM (GMT)
Uhhhh yeah (in super obvious voice). CS Lewis was a prolific writer, and most of his stuff was about Christianity. He said many times in his life that part of why he wrote the Chronicles of Narnia was to re-aquaint children with Biblical themes and messages (Aslan = Christ figure, etc). As we are all aware I am not a Christian, but I highly recommend one of CS Lewis' other books, a shorter book called "The Screwtape Letters". Its basically a bunch of letters and correspondances between a demon in training who is trying to turn a person away from Christianity and corrupt his soul, he is kinda new at this so he often writes to Satan, his unlce, for advice. Sounds weird, but its actually very funny, insightful and interesting.
On a different but related note, they seem like they are gonna makes more film adaptations from this series. I hope they do because they are doing a good job so far. I hope for the next one they do Prince Caspian (like the best book in the series in my opinion). Which book do you guys want to see remade from the series next?

He was looking for the books that inspired the movie. You know Like the Lion the witch and the Wardrobe, The prince casper, those he means.
