Title: Observations in my Neighborhood
Description: Daily Changes, If They Change Much, ;)
Hurricane - February 6, 2005 10:57 AM (GMT)
Mild Temps survive after a chilly and misty Friday Morning. A Pacific front moved through the Tampa Bay Area and brought some low 40's across the region Saturday Morning. It was breezy most of the day and the high temps barely made it to 70.. Pretty average for this time of year.
Temps right now are sitting on 57°,
DP= 48°,
Humidity= 68%,
Winds are from the NNE@10mph w/ gusts at 15mph,
A change may be on the horizon about the middle of next week,,
Spring is on the Way,,, Yippieeeeeee!!!!!!! I have to get some vegetable seeds to Plant,, :rolleyes: ;) :silly:
Hurricane - February 6, 2005 11:16 PM (GMT)
Overcast moved in this afternoon and slowly march across the sky from East to West. Just a thin blanket of clouds will keep our night time temps near 60°. My kind of Florida weather, :silly: The wind is still rather calm with a wisp of a breeze at 7mph from the NE. The clouds are gray but do not hold a lot of moisture, so I doubt that a sprinkle is due, it might make a splash before the night is threw.. ;)
Temp=73°,
DP=56°,
Humidity=54%,
Beautiful Evening.... B)
Hurricane - February 15, 2005 09:43 AM (GMT)
Another balmy night here on the West Coast with the temps currently holding pretty steady. A Pacific front passed through last Friday night with some significant chills that thankfully didn't last very long. Looks like Spring might come early to Florida this year. B) ;)

Hurricane - February 16, 2005 11:25 AM (GMT)
Completely calm this morning and we are just inches away from a nice fog. The moisture drips off the car windows and it seems even the sounds of emergency vehicles has taken the night off. Maybe the Calm of the nights winds and temps have quelled the souls of the savage beasts. ;) As the lite grayness develops ahead of Dawns crack with the beginning of a new day, the numbers are steady:

Hurricane - February 17, 2005 12:55 PM (GMT)
Well it came pretty close to a nice Foggy morning but I think we missed it by a few degrees. Humidity is up there. I came out of work a couple of hours before sunrise and the moisture was dripping off the ole pickumuptruck with puddles on the ground beneath my trusty ride. I did pass some ground fog that had drifted across the road from a few open fields that are generally covered in mist on these kinds of mornings.
Right now and for the most part of this early AM, there has been a thin overcast with an approach of a dry front that will take temps for mid February down a tad closer to normal. I do Love these mild times of the year in this Tropical Paradise, (sure is a Paradise when you don't get 4 powerful Hurricanes in 6 weeks :rolleyes: )......

Well it's quite a difference this morning from yesterday, Winds are gusting pretty good which makes the feels like Temp about 54°, but that is when you are standing in a protected area. Get out in the wind and it cuts right through ya. :blink: I love the 30 minutes before sunrise this time of year as you can see the shades of blue that work their way across the sky from East to West in a clear sky. It feels like a person could almost chase the shadow of the night, as it receeds. ;)
Current Temp; 57°,

Hurricane - February 21, 2005 05:53 AM (GMT)
Well true to form in this Tropical Paradise it sure feels like Spring this evening. The problem is that we are way below our rainfall average in this start of 2005. I bet Southern California would like to share their ensueing record breaking precipitation. Looking at LA Radar there is another blast coming on shore from the Pacific. There sure have been some crazy weather events since Floridas Hurricane debute this past season.
Well the temp here has held steady for the last 2 hours and the winds are light,,

Hurricane - February 26, 2005 11:47 AM (GMT)
A windy day followed and then another Foggy night after that. I could see the Sea Fog as it rolled across the land in banks of rollers. Quite a sight only much of it was blown off by the time I got off work. :rolleyes:
Rain!!!! Finally after weeks of dry fronts marching through, we got a good dowsing with some heavy downpours and rumbles of thunder both North and South of my location. The primary pulse passed through in the mid morning hours and a few waves passed into the early evening. The winds kicked up and the temps have dropped again but not too terribly cold, the wind made it feel a few degrees less last night. Currently it is overcast and breezy:

Hurricane - February 28, 2005 04:25 PM (GMT)
Hehehehehe,,, Sunday was like a day in Portland, Or. Rainy, rainy, rainy, all day long, well, through the late afternoon anyway. I am looking for the totals now. This might have brought us close to our annual average to date so far. The pulse has been driven to the North to provide Virginia with a heavy snow all night and for the better part of this half of Monday. They are still getting dumped on and I hope they have the equipment to clear the roads for the workers and kids in school. As this system moves to the North it brings a mix of precipitation to the Ohio valley and the NE areas of this Grand Country. Partly Sunny skies are present this morning with a gusty wind and temps are somewhat comfortable.. Winds have died down from earlier this morning so here we are..

Hurricane - March 6, 2005 07:11 AM (GMT)
Pulses of energy race across this Grand Country from west to east carrying with it, periods of rain, sleet and snow. It is a somewhat typical February here on the Central West Coast of Florida, yet the systems seem to be coming a bit late in the season. Perhaps the Polar shifts have changed the climate on a level that we may not be seeing right now.

Hurricane - March 12, 2005 05:27 PM (GMT)
It is still a bit cool these days following a few minor wet fronts that have passed through with some sprinkles and moderate to high winds. Very clear skies are present today and a brisk wind cools the Feels Like temps below what the atmosphere depicts. Spring is certainly on the horizon but Winter seems to want to maintain a finger hold, denying our warmth for a bit longer..

Hurricane - March 28, 2005 11:31 AM (GMT)
Well it has been a couple of weeks of riding a rollar coaster, weather wise, here in this neck of the woods, and we have had quite a variety of events... Very typical for a normal springtime in the Southern States. An outbreak of Severe Weather has been of major interest as of late and the events have been tremendous. In just a matter of days, Dozens of Tornado's have marked a path through La, Ms, Al, Ga, and Fl with a few twisting their way into some central states. Looks like we are just nipping the tip of an active Spring Season all over the country.
Currently on this side of the pond it is comfortably mild, with overnight temps holding just above 72°. The rain that I had expected from this system, that brought all the violent storms to the South, just fizzled out as it came to our Central West Coast of Florida. Though we have had less rain than what had been expected, the storms came close enough to give us numerous days of overcast skies from the outflow from the nearby boomers. High Surf advisories are posted for much of the coastline as the winds continue to pour into our warming State from the West. Here is a Neat visit to My area..

Hurricane - April 4, 2005 02:32 AM (GMT)
Saturday Morning was a wild ride of heavy storms and high winds. Coastal flooding was common from high surf. Fortunately there were no Tornados reported in Florida as the tail of the Storm whipped through.. High winds continued through Saturday night and began to diminish in the early hours of Sunday.
Just about calm now as the atmosphere settles into a clear and cool night. Wind chills last night were in the upper 40's and I sure hope that this is the last blast of the Winter of 2005,, :unsure:

Hurricane - April 7, 2005 10:10 AM (GMT)
Well, some quick changes in atmospheric conditions on tap today. The wild weather that brought all the Tornadic activity to the Southern States won't make its way this far South, altogether, but the system is throwing a tail into the GOM which will give the West Coast of Florida about a 60% chance of heavy storms this afternoon and throughout the night. Tapering off as the intial line passes through..
Currently, winds have been increasing ahead of the Front and Radar shows the line of storms developing over open water, due West of my location. Heavy weather continues to move across the Panhandle as the system moves to the North and East.

Hurricane - April 24, 2005 01:34 AM (GMT)
Pretty passive weather has been the name of the game here for a couple of weeks. A couple of pulses of energy have given us a sprinkle on occaision over the past couple of weeks and lowered the temps just below normal, but the interest is about actually having a Spring Season in Central Florida. As a 4th generation Floridian, it isn't often that I can recall cool temperatures extending into the last quarters of April. Low to mid 50's are expected for the next 2 nights and I could not ask for anything less enjoyable for my likes. :blink: Give me a low about 75° at night and I am in 7th Heaven.
Just a day before the Full Moon and this Luna is making for a surreal nightscape as the broken clouds obscure and display Luna in all His brightness. The clouds are moving across the skies at about 20mph with a ceiling of 6,000ft and the glow illuminates the darkness as each passing Nimbus exudes a break between its neighbor.
Ok, Current Conditions here in Largo, Fla;
Current Temps; 70°,

Luna has cleared the clouds and the rain has washed the atmosphere clean, Bright and Beautiful Display of Sky!!! :silly:
Hurricane - April 25, 2005 08:08 AM (GMT)
Record temperatures are on the approach this clear Morning at the end of April, as the Full Moon makes its nightward pass across the Heavens. The Stars are obscured by the brightness that is reflected by our old guardian of the night and the winds remain light through this darkness and the hours of peace and slumber for so many..
The winds have subsided over this past hour that permits my thoughts to flourish into what might be presented at Dawn's Crack... As Mother Terra rotates upon Her Eternal axis, and tilts occaisionally to change the Seasons, we wonder within our own frames of mind, as to how we might experience our own lives, as we contend with the developing atmospheric conditions in our own neighborhood..
Now Looking at the Calm Effects here on the West Central Coast of Florida,
Current Temps; 55°,
Heat Index; 55°,
Dew Point; 47°,
Humidity; 73%
Winds; 0mph
Gusts; NNE@ 8mph,

and the chances about another drop in temps before dawn are expected.. :blink:

Socked in here on the West Coast of the East Coast of North America, a light wind and completely overcast, the birds even started late this morning. Quiet winds rustle the leaves on the larger trees as the silence of the morning's light wafts slowly into daytime.

Hurricane - May 4, 2005 10:31 AM (GMT)
Tremendous storms blanketed the Southern 3rd of the State of Florida yesterday as a front that passed through on Saturday makes a return visit. Reports of baseball sized Hail came in from areas just East of Sarasota County. Holy Hanna,, can you imagine??
Reports for 05/04/05 to follow... :rolleyes: It's building already,, ;)
Hurricane - May 5, 2005 09:45 AM (GMT)
Heavy storms once again, 5/4/05, and this time the hail reports came in as Tennis ball sized. 60 aircraft were damaged at an airport near Daytona beach as windshields and skylights were shattered and the rain came in. Mostly single engined Cessna's that were left outside as most twin engine aircraft were brought in under cover..
Another round is just off shore this morning. It seems that the system really has gained strength over the last couple of days as it races off to the East.. B)
Hurricane - May 6, 2005 10:11 AM (GMT)
Cloudy skies prevail this morning, but a clearing is on the way. High pressure is settling over Bermuda and that means some more heat and a drying out for the entire State. I might even take a drive out to the Lake on Sunday. :silly: It has been a wild week though. ;)

80°,,,, That is sweet,, we have already broken the 90° mark and I spent a little too much time at the pool on Memorial Day,,, NO, WAY TOO MUCH!!!! I thought I would get an early start, about 11am, and then grill a couple of steaks and Bake some taters with some silver queen corn-on-the-cob, a spinich and greens salad with avocado, smothered in blue cheese dressing with olive oil and red wine vinegar. Well I got there and the cooking was great, everything was perfect from the grill, we watched a nice movie, talked for a while, she kissed me goodnight (lips of a Goddess), and the thoughts were wonderful.
I woke up at 2 O'clock in the morning in a pain that I haven't felt in years, I was on fire and I couldn't move in any direction. I hadn't spent that kind of time in the Sun in a very long time. The pool temp was in the 80's and I was having such a great time. It was after 4:30pm when we started to get the already prepared meal for cooking and I wasn't feeling much pain, (though a few folks did mention that I was getting red).
Believe you me, I got RED!!!). So much in fact that I look like a diseased person today!!!! I have used Aloe lotion and taken numerous cold showers to combat this thing that I have learned about during decades of exposure, most of the time not having a problem, as I tan like an island guy. Not this time though, I baked this aging body way to far past the skins tolerance. So as a Student of the school of hard knocks in the area of treatment and not intelligent protection in the ways of the Sun's effects, though I am wise to the Affect, the Fun out weighed the consequences, and I am treating myself with everything I know of. Well, I believe to the depth of my Being, that I will never spend that kind of time in the Sun, ever again... :rolleyes:
The following days of this week have been forgiving, or at least understanding with lots of clouds and cooling rains, seems like an appropriate following to a great one day event with the result of my treatments in mind. ;)
Heavy and Severe Storms entered the area and have just continued through this week. Nothing Big yet today but Storms are developing to my South. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if this weather pattern continued through the weekend.. :)
