There's a very interesting ,but disturbing , article on NOAA's main site illustrating the extreme drought which the horn of Africa - countries are having to deal with .

I expect we wil hear about failed crops and famine again in a couple of months , given this analysis .

http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories2005/s2420.htm

This image illustrates the "health" of the vegetation in that part of the world ( now compared to 2004 ) .You can clearly see disaster coming when studying his image .

Incredible part of all of this is of course the unwillingness of the "developed " countries to help these countries before these disasters occur ( after all : you can pretty much predict when a crop is going to fail and when famine is likely to happen) . It seems to me we haven't learned very much of the 80's ( remember "band aid " and the "live aid " - concerts ?? ) but are still persisting in an "on the fly " - policy regarding the 3rd world .

Indeed Rik,,, there seems to have been a Global shift. However small at this point, the repercussions are being seen all over the place. It seems even the Southern Regions of Africa are adjusting to a bit less than favorable in some areas.

It must have been an amazing scene in the deserts of Nevada and California with all the rains over the past few months. Some have said it looks like a Green Prarrie of all sorts of vegetation.

On the note of acting to put out a fire after it starts, yes, the world will wait until the problem becomes dire, before they jump to provide any sort of assitance. Unfortunate..

It really can't if the Worlds Powers wait until after the Fact, Rainy.. Unfortunately that is the way that things happen...

Take for instance the event of the Tsunami on Christmas Night/morning after. There were no warning systems in place there before, and now the world is scrambling to get one in place.

There was also a Tsunami that hit the East Coast of the USA in 1755 and we have not created a significant warning system for the Northern Hemisphere's Atlantic Region until Now!!

Take our Southern Boarders that are being totally neglected by our Governmentwith the free passing of illeagle alien immigrants into our country, not to mention the ones that wish to cause us Harm!! Just now, after decades, the issue is getting major National attention,,, All After The Fact....
