Title: TK Chariot Question & strength 7

Gameofthrones - July 12, 2009 12:41 PM (GMT)
Had a game today where a unit of 4 TK chariots and a Bone Giant charged my unit of 3 Dragon Ogres (with GW) and a lined up Dragon Ogre Shagooth (with GW).

All models were drawn into the same combat due to their proximity.

The TK chariot impact hits and attacks did 4 wound on the Dragon Ogres, removing one model. The Bone Giant's unstoppable assault was quite stoppable doing only one wound on the Shaggoth. The 6 attacks back from the 2 remaining DO's and 5 attacks from the Shaggoth were all directed against the chariots. These attacks did 4 wounds back on the Chariot unit which as I understand it destroys all 4 models.

The question being, do the 12 wounds the chariot unit "lost" by having the models destroyed is the counting combat res or is it only 4?

This being important for the Bone Giant as crumble from 12 wounds would wipe him out where as only 4 wounds counting the combat would have continued.

The only reference we could find was to Killing blow where a model with multiple wounds killed by killing blow loses all wounds all of which count towards combat resolution.

Opinions or BRB page reference?

We had a good look and couldn't find anything - cheers!

I would say that you count in CR every wound you took from the chariots, this means that if the 4 chariots were full you did 12 wounds. Just as killing blow.

yup, all 12 wounds are counted. I hope your opponent learnt a valuable lesson about what units not to charge with his Chariots :P

I had something similar to this a few games back and we came to the same conclusion that a chariot destroyed by str7 counts as many wounds as it had left, couldnt find an official ruling one way or the other

Well, it is just as killing blow, if the model struck down by the blow has 2 wounds remaining you count 2 wounds, if he had 4 you count 4, and so on...

Thanks guys, that was how we played it on the day.

Result being the Bone Giant crumbled away, leaving me to charge with both Shaggoth and Dragon Ogres in my turn against his cav unit with 2 priests and heirophant (spelling?). Destryoed that and overan into Screaming skull catapult.

Doombull led Khorngors and an Undivided Chariot tidied up the middle taking care of Ushabti unit and Tomb Guard with King.

Massacre to the beasts, just wanted to be certain I deserved it without a stretch of the rules with crumble against the Bone Giant.
