Title: Shooting large targets

Lordy - July 12, 2009 03:06 PM (GMT)
For some reason i had it in my head that you can fire in multiple ranks when shooting at a large target or units on hills.

I checked the rule book but can't find anything.

Am i getting confused or can you do that? If so what page is it on the rule book.

Large targets: page 9 (line of sight paragraph)

Hills: page 26 (shooting from hills)

;)

Another quicky while were here :)

Can a character on a large target cast things like magic missles at other units even if hes in close combat? Does he have line of site?

Same go's for Slann Mage priest, if he is in a temple guard unit 2nd rank, can he cast magic missles?

No, the character is still in combat and he cannot cast spells in which description isn't written "can be casted in close combat".

About the slann, Daggoth could answer better than me, but the toad isn't considered to be in combat unless he's in b2b with an enemy.

Actually you CAN cast spells in combat. Nothing restricts that. However:

Magic missiles cannot be used in close combat at all.

You are likely restricted with regards of LOS.

You can't cast spells at units engaged in CC most of the time. And commonly this will be the only unit you can see, (mage in front rank).

I might be forgetting something else as well.

To clarify;

You CAN cast out of combat, but not INTO combat unless the spell allows for this.

Being a large target will be an advantage with spells that require LOS.
