Title: Challenge SLann?
ShaggothLord - October 23, 2009 03:18 AM (GMT)
Hey guys. I believe in the old Lizardmen book, a Slann could not be challenged, atleast in a unit of Temple Gaurd. Nothing of that sort is mentioned in the new book, so does that mean a Slann can be challenged now? Or is that covered by not being in the front rank?
Thanks,
SL

Yeah, only characters in the fighting rank may be challenged, that's why skaven characters can lead from the rear.

Would you really want to challenge something that has a 4+ ward save and 5 wounds while his unit destroys your combat resolution? :D

If you had the Sword of Fate or something similar I could see the point. Each hit wounds on a 2+ and does 1d3 wounds. Then a challenge would mean a fair chance to kill the Slann in a round or two. Just that pesky ward save to overcome.
But generally speaking, no, I don't see the point.

At least the slann won´t kill you back, so if it is a single character wich can take a couple of break tests it might be worth it. :)

Well, the problem would not be the Slann, but the 20 stubborn temple guard with more static CR than any BoC unit can create.

I also believe that the Slaan is generally not in the front rank anymore - used much like a damsal (cowering in the middle of the unit) - thus not a valid target for challenging.
