Title: Miscast result 8-9

Miscast table result 8-9
A massive vortex of power drains away the sorcerous energy. The caster sufferes one strenght 4 hit (no armour saves). In addition, all spells currently in play on the entire battlefield are automatically dispelled and the magic phase ends.

Now, does this miscast stop spells such as beast cowers and other spells that arn't "remains in play" or do they stand?

Im guessing it dispels them too but not 100% sure, can anyone confirm for me plz? :)

Found it in FAQ, sorry should have looked there first!

It does indeed get dispelled.

Yes - it appears to wipe the board clean of magic - can be quite evil depending on what is in play.

Yeah it was, he cast beast cowers on my Stardragon last night, and then got a miscast 8-9 we had a quick FAQ look but couldn't find anything so we rolled off for it, and ended up with beast cowers staying in play sadly preventing my cheese dragon charging the rear of his cold one cavalry and scar vet :D

If its not a remains in play spell (beast cowers, the frenzy caused by the slaanesh spell) then it will not drop. These are physical effects caused by the spell.

As Lordy stated in his second post, the FAQ it does affect all spells in play. Not only the ones that are "Remains in play".

Q. Miscast table, #8-9. Are the ‘remains in play’ spells the only ones to be dispelled, or does it also cover ‘spell lasting one or more turns’ which cannot be usually dispelled?

A. ‘All spells in play’ covers all spell, including those that are not technically ‘Remains in play’, but have effects lasting a certain amount of turns.

The only exception I can think of is the BoC Lore of Nurgle spell Pestilence since it specifies that the effect lasts for the rest of the battle even though it is not a remains in play spell.

Dont forget the Rain Lord (5th spell of the Lore of Life)

"...covers all spells, "

Pretty sure Pestilence is a spell. As is rainlord. The second part of the answer lists examples. It is not an exclusive list.

Have to agree - the only spell effect that may (possibly?) not be cancelled my be the Slaanesh "Frenzy" spell from BoC - it grants a unit Frenzy instantaneously (not a remains in play or lingering spell effect) and the only way to lose frenzy is to lose combat.

Beast cowers - not so sure about.

Rain Lord should remain in effect... once the weapons/gun powder is wet... it is WET. All the dispels in the world are not relevent.

Spells that give a unit "something" are a shade of grey...
