I'm not sure how accurate I translated this. Elysia or anyone, feel free to correct and supplement if you see more. Pls look for photos if you see any floating around.
Article: September 11, 2007
For the first movie role of Koichi Domoto Sushi Ouji to be released in April 2008, filming has ended on Sept. 11 and movie stills have been released. At the moment, the TV drama is still showing in Nagoya. The movie version talks about sushi ouji going to New York. Koichi said in relation to his reaction, “The atmosphere is definitely different and the setting has been expanded.”
The TV drama is about sushi ouji understanding the martial art and then went all over Japan to accumulate experience and have often competed with sushi chefs. In the movie version, in order to train, he comes to New York to challenge in one battle that he as a Japanese cannot lose.
Koichi said that the filming in New York “is a first time in terms of work and so with it being refreshing, he accepted the challenge.” The shooting in the street of sushi prince therefore may have uneven sound. (I think that’s what it meant.) In the movie, the dialog would be in English half the time and the standard Japanese phrase of omenanga…. Becomes “I will crush you.”
Talking about the July 4th Independence Day filming, with fireworks as the backdrop, Koichi said that he was exhibiting his turtle pose and he smiled bitterly, “Because my back was towards the fireworks, I basically did not get to see the fireworks.”
The jumping from 8 metres high cliff, and the action scenes all were performed by himself without body doubles. The shooting ended in the second part of August. Thinking back on the director’s word, he (not sure if Koichi said this or the director said this) said, “without deviating from the rhythm, the comedic side would not be successful.” He said, “To smoothly finish this work, I am relieved finally. This would be a more mature sushi ouji than the one in the TV drama.”
Kat-Tun’s Nakamura will also continue to be in this movie. The unique sushi food and new roles will continue to appear in this movie.

Is that why Koichi looked so thin in MS? Cos of all the physical activity?
How can someone so thin make a convincing food CM? :faint:

It is so good!!! Arrrggghhhh! did you all see him in that poncho coming out with the hat....haha...I loved it. I could already feel it is going to be fun just by the look of things. I think the movie would be bigger than the series just like Kizarasu Cat's Eye movie vs drama version.
I can't wait also. Ah, this song is just so good!!!!!! Love it, love it, love it.
Thanks for all the links everyone.

It is reported that Sushi Ouji the movie would be released in theatres in April, the Golden Week, the same time as Jay Chou's Kung Fu Dunk, the basketball movie made in Taiwan and China but based on the Japanese manga Slam Dunk from Japan. Kung Fu Dunk would be released in Asian cities in February but Golden Week in Japan.

Helen,
The movie is distributed by Warner Brothers... High chance it will be shown world-wide... later? I dunno, but in any case, I WILL WATCH IT... somehow. LOL!
Himawari,
I know what you mean~~~ But it can't be helped.
My situation is a bit different since when I like him, I already had to "share" him with a few other friends who love him in Singapore. And when I go to Japan, I realise there are even MORE people who love him. Well, good things are meant to be shared? LOL!
There's another English line he said that I really like...
NOT A BAD OFFER, BUT MY ANSWER IS.... NOOO!!
Ahh~~ Say that to me!!
*trying to think of situation to fit that line*

OOOOH I know what you mean!!! I love to hear Koichi say Not a bad offer but my answer is NOOOO it sounded sooo sexy didnt it?? If they send this movie over here and they get a sucky Voice Over person doing Koichi's voice Imma be soooo mad!! but no one's voice is as smooth as his... soo.....
HimeNoKuri - January 13, 2008 09:28 AM (GMT)
I just realized something if the movie opens world wide Koichi will be the second Johnny's ( That I know of) that will be seen internationally(First one was Nino from Letter Ffrom Iwo Jima) does anyone think Johnny will FINALLY realize his groups' international fan base at last? or are we gunna be disappointed YET again??
kimurafan - January 13, 2008 03:39 PM (GMT)
You know, Hime, I am doubtful that it would be a general release if at all in the US. At most, it might be a limited release, like Infernal Affairs.
Hero got a general release after it did well in a limited release, Curse of the Golden Flower also followed the same path. Shaolin Soccer also. But if it doesn't do well, like The Promise by Jang Dong Gun, it would never get a general release.
You would have to go to Chinatown, Japantown to watch at their special community theatres for these.
For these releases, they wouldn't dub it but keep the same voice.
Lust, Caution directed by Ang Lee starring Tony Leung never got a limited release because of the sex scenes and rated NC-17 (No Children under 17) and there were only 2 theatres in strange places that showed it. Hopefully, Sushi Ouji would be well liked enough.
But it would not be promoted as Speed Racer which is American made. If there were famous American actors, it would be a different story.
But I have to agree with everyone else. Koichi is just too cute in this movie. OMG, my kids are so looking forward to this because it is so downright silly. I too can't wait for it. I have never seen a funnier Koichi!!!
When you constrict everything into 1.5 hours, they would double the funnier parts of Koichi and by the trailer, I could see it would be very funny. Hope Japan would make it a huge box office success too so that we could have a sequel. Could you imagine, Sushi Ouji story in India, in Latin America, in Europe???? All the funny things he would say!!!!
For those who are interested in what are the top movies in Japan, how much they make, and Asian movies box office in Hollywood, here are two lists for you.

sorry, Hime, but I believe Koichi will only be the 3rd.. Kimura is the 2nd one -- his movie "Hero" was released internationally, I think (even if "international" means limited distribution in certain countries..)

Koichi Domoto sings for "Sushi Ouji!"Wed, January 16, 2008 (2:15pm EST)
KinKi Kids member Koichi Domoto will sing the theme song for his upcoming movie, "Ginmaku Ban Sushi Ouji! ~New York e Iku~." This is his first time providing music for a film as a solo artist.
The song is titled "No more," and it is said to have an R&B flavor to fit the movie's setting of New York. The single has not yet been given a release date.
Directed by Yukihiko Tsutsumi, the film is related to the "Sushi Ouji!" drama series that aired on TV Asahi last summer. It opens on April 19.

what do you play your Japanese dvd's on??? These are coded for region 2 which is why I have never ordered any of Koichi's dvd'd cos believe me Id be wearing a hole in those babies if I could see em
nagareboshi1 - January 24, 2008 04:30 AM (GMT)
I think you could buy a region-free DVD player or you can set your computer to region-2 like what I did. Unfortunately, then you can only play DVDs from region-2 or region-free.
In my case, my laptop (the DVD player hardware on my laptop) only allows me to change region 3 times. Afterwards, I'd be stuck at that 3rd region setting. So, you might want to check that first before changing regions. I haven't regretted changing mine to region-2 so far since I can always watch the other region DVD on the regular DVD player. :squint:
Hope that helps.
kimurafan - January 24, 2008 06:50 PM (GMT)
For those who are worried about your computer locking up after changing discs from different region, I had that problem before but not since I have installed this DVD Region Killer device.

I thought this is his first one, seeing how much he hates being photographed..
Didn't Enari-san said when interviewed for Oshareism that Koichi would just do the "minimum pose" during photoshoots?
