Can't believe this. My favourite Koichi songs are: SNAKE♥, Unbreakable, Velvet Rain, Take me to..., Shadows On The Floor, Lose Control, not to mention some from Shock, I cannot believe NONE of them are in the tour :(
hidamari - August 18, 2009 04:12 PM (GMT)
Well, I guess he's trying to strike a balance in picking the songs, such that it's not just a "repeat" of Mirror con, and I believe he'd like to "distance" the solo concert from ES...
I think Koichi himself felt that there's not enough materials to justify a concert at this point - he's been saying that over & over in the promo interviews, and also during the concert.
I was surprised that he sang "My Wish" and "Boku wa Omou" - probably the staff talked him into it, like they did for "Spica"
hidamari - September 1, 2009 04:23 PM (GMT)
Bits & pieces from Koichi's MC, in no particular order...
Fukuoka 8/16
1. It's been raining on & off in Fukuoka over the weekend, and Koichi said that maybe it's because he's a rainmaker (ame otoko). He said that it often rained on days when he has photoshoots or other on-location assignments. He also said that Fukuoka was chosen as the start point of this tour because the staff felt that he had to make it up to the fans here, because he had had to cancel his "mirror" con due to typhoon.
2. F1 talk - Koichi mentioned about Felipe Massa (Ferrari), who suffered head injury from an 800-gr piece of debris in an accident during Hungarian GP, and also about Michael Schumacher's neck injury which prevents him from making a comeback to F1 racing.
3. Perfect sphere - Koichi went on & on about how even with current state-of-the-art technology, man still can't create a perfect sphere. He claimed that he thinks about this kind of scientific things when he's in the toilet
4. Light wavelength - Koichi asked the audience if they knew why the sky looks reddish at sunset. Some people answered "yes", but nobody volunteered to answer when he prodded, so he went on to explain that it's because light wavelength is refracted by particles in the atmosphere, but since red light has the longest wavelength it's not refracted as much and therefore perceived by the human eyes.
5. Pan - Koichi went on at length about Pan: how cute she is, etc, etc. He sounded like a doting parent
6. Koichi kept mentioning that he didn't really want to have a solo project this year, but was pushed into it since last year. He sounded apologetic about not having enough new materials for a concert this time round. After seeing immense interest from the fans (ie, the numerous additional concert dates), he felt touched and he "promised" that he'd be able to have another solo concert - with more solid material - in "the near future".
7. Tsuyoshi - Koichi mentioned Tsuyoshi in passing (both of them have solo concerts on 8/15 & 8/16), and the fans corrected him that it's "Endlicheri-san". He then said that once he was asked by Wink Up, what color will Tsuyoshi's next project be. He said "hmm, yellow?" - but the Wink Up people said it's "hard to write (書きづらい)" -- sorry, I don't really understand what it means.
8. Koichi said that most of his songs are quite melancholic (暗い).

Osaka 8/29 MC
1. Again, Koichi mentioned about his lack of enthusiasm for having a solo project this year, and how he was pushed into it. He said that he wasn't sure what to do during the concert, seeing that he only have two new songs, even after 3 years have elapsed. He said that the title of the tour sounded as if it's all about him, but actually what he meant was that he wanted to give the best performance (and music) to the audience, even with such limited material. --> This became a "standard" talk for his first MC (the one before "Awaken Yourself").
2. Koichi mentioned that Hey!Say!Jump! was in the news for setting a new record of 7 performances in 7 days, and he was like, "Eh?? But I have 7 performances in 4 days....".
He said when he first saw the tour schedule, he thought that the staff were being considerate and not putting in too many performances cos he's already 30. But later he discovered that they added in so many extra dates, it's almost double the original number. But he's very touched, because it means that the fans have been eagerly waiting for his solo project.
3. Koichi expressed his thanks for the staff who worked super hard into making his Osaka leg possible. Hey!Say!Jump! had a concert in the same venue (Osaka-jo Hall) until 8/27, so the staff could only prepared for his concert at the very last minute. He claimed that since he arrived on 8/27, he's been enjoying himself at the hotel, playing games - because of the logistics issue.
4. Short mention of perfect sphere - how he thinks about the point of contact between a perfectly flat surface & a perfect sphere, allegedly during his toilet break.
5. Maruyama (from K8) dropped by, so he was roped in for the longer MC (after "No More"). Koichi told Maruyama that it took a while for him to register which one is Maruyama when the staff mentioned that he'd be coming to the concert - the staff had to remind him that "he's the one with bodybuilder parents". Maruyama said that ever since Koichi mentioned that (both parents = bodybuilders) in SDK, that's all everybody remembers him by. Koichi said that K8 concerts seem so fun, and Maruyama said that it's because all members have their own quirks. Koichi said that KinKi Kids could never be like that, since him & Tsuyoshi are both very melancholic people. He offered Tsuyoshi's "Bigaku" title as an example.
6. Pan - at the fans' prodding, he mentioned a little about her.
7. Right after "No More", Koichi teased one of the M.A.D guys, Tatsumi, for his Tsubasa impersonation.
8. Koichi said that he hoped this tour will be the start of a new something; that in the "near future" he can offer the fans another solo concert.
9. Koichi confessed towards the end that one of his contact lenses dropped during the performance (I forgot which song - he mentioned it), but luckily he saw it glittering on the stage and quickly grabbed it during one of the dance moves. He said that he kept holding the lens on his left hand (cos there was no convenient break) and so he was dancing with an odd pose all the way through "Ai no Cross".
missed this one:
10. During the MC before "Awaken Yourself", Koichi mentioned that although he has only two new songs, there are a couple which were rearranged into something which he felt he could only perform now that he's 30. I forgot the actual words he used, but seems that they have a rather risque implication, cos some of the audience went "Eehh!??" - to which Koichi replied that if they're not ready for that, then perhaps they should just go see Hey!Say!Jump! instead.

Osaka 8/31 14:00 MC
Other than the standard "I was forced into doing this tour" and "I hope that in the near future we could meet again":
1. F1 talk - Koichi mentioned that most people would think of 8/30 as polling date, but for him it's memorable because Ferrari team has its first F1 win in Belgium GP. He said he was quite surprised that Indian team managed to clinch the 2nd position. He said that because of that, he's been in a good mood since morning. He didn't really talk much about F1, because he said that once he started on this topic, the audience would grow totally quiet.
2. Koichi asked if the audience went to vote, and most said yes, but there were a few "no"s, so he kinda admonished them.
3. Koichi said he's glad to see that the audience for his show is spread across generations & gender, like in KK concerts. He did a survey of the audience - teens, twenties, thirties, and forties. He said that he's very happy to see males in the audience too, and then proceeded to single out a middle-aged guy who sat in the arena section, and kept teasing him throughout the first half of the concert. He said that there are female dancers in his entourage, so that the guy could enjoy himself too.
4. Koichi apologized for making the audience wait for 3 years for his solo concert. He said that those who were in junior high school when he had "mirror" con would've graduated by now.
5. Koichi said that the new arrangement for "Falling" gets on his nerves, and when he saw the choreography for it, he felt even more irritated.
He hoped that despite that, the fans would still find the performance enjoyable.
6. Dog talk - Koichi showed a picture of Pan, which allegedly is his cellphone's current wallpaper, and said that she's the cutest dog in the universe (she did look super cute in that picture). When the fans protested, he told them to shut up and face reality. He said that he couldn't understand why the fans seem to think that his keeping a dog is because of a (female) special someone in his life.
Koichi asked the audience if they have dogs, and of those, who has females & who has males. He then wondered if Pan has a puppy with one of the audience's dogs, what it would look like. Then he said that he wouldn't let that happen, cos he'd rather Pan has a puppy that looks totally like her - apparently according to Koichi, puppies will have their dads' characteristics rather than their moms'. The fans then asked him to mate Pan with Kenshiro, and Koichi claimed that he hasn't seen Kenshiro in more than 10 years. He said that Tsuyoshi used to bring Kenshiro along to assignments because at the time Kenshiro was too small to be left alone in a pet hotel, but that was a long time ago.
Koichi said that he misses Pan, since he came to Osaka straight from Nagoya, so it's been more than a week since he last saw her. At the moment she's with his mom, who now has another dog to "replace" Pan (which Koichi "stole"). He said that Pan is super-friendly with just about anyone, except with Johnny-san. So he's worried that after such a long absence, when he comes home Pan wouldn't greet him.
7. While making adoring comments about Pan, Koichi wondered if it'd be like that when he has a daughter - worrying about her whereabouts. So then the talk drifted to marriage. Koichi asked the audience if anybody actually entertained thoughts of marrying him (quite a few said yes) - and scolded himself for asking in a casual way (思い込んじゃって). He then repeated the question in a more polite way (思い込んでらっしゃる).
Koichi then said that somewhere out there there's that special someone for him, but that she's definitely not in today's audience.
Then he jokingly said that maybe she's not even born yet, claiming it's still possible for a 50-yr old to marry a 20-yr old.
In the end he said that he's not thinking about relationship & marriage just yet - after all he's only 30.
8. Related to the marriage talk, Koichi asked the audience how they see him. Most answered "Prince" (Ouji), but he seemed to pick up a few "middle-aged man" (ossan) replies too.
9. Food talk - Koichi said that Kansai is well-known for its udon. But he didn't really go out to eat in Osaka - just stayed at the hotel, unlike M.A/M.A.D whom he heard went to a family restaurant for dinner. He said that the night before, he was feeling peckish, so he ate instant noodle. He was surprised to find that the same instant noodle brand/type tastes different in Kanto & Kansai - which is apparently common knowledge. He said that since he was born & raised in Kansai, he still prefers Kansai tastes.
10. After "No More", when Koichi was joking with the dancers before dismissing them backstage, when he came to Tatsumi, he said "Well, if it isn't Tsubasa!"
So then Tatsumi did a few Tsubasa poses, which seemed to tickle Koichi.
uh, just remembered one more
11. Koichi said he felt his age cos the number of juniors are now so many, he doesn't know who's who anymore. He mentioned that he went to "Summary" recently, and was really surprised at how young the audience were. --> I think he mentioned this again in the evening MC, but not too sure about that.

hidamari - September 1, 2009 05:11 PM (GMT)
Osaka 8/31 18:30 MC
On top of "I was forced into doing this tour", apologizing for making the fans wait for 3 years, and "I hope that in the near future we could meet again":
1. Another audience survey, but this time he went to fifties age group. Koichi mentioned that he felt happy that there are quite a number of guys in the audience - and then a few of those said guys screamed "Koichi!!"
He kinda wondered why the guys came, cos he's pretty sure they didn't come to gawk at him , and said that he hopes the guys in the audience would enjoy themselves too because of the female dancers.
2. Koichi was surprised that the fans who sat at sections directly to the left & right of the stage were hyper during this performance. (They did scream at any possible chance throughout the show...)
3. Koichi apologized for always pacing on stage. He said that it's a habit from the days when KinKi used to have a circular stage in the middle and the audience were seated all around them. In those days, he & Tsuyoshi would face each other during MC and/or during (some of) the songs (the audience screamed wildly at this), so some of the fans only got to see their backs throughout. So they got scolded by Johnny-san, and since then both of them started pacing on stage.
4. Picking off from the fans' wild screams at the mention of Tsuyoshi - Koichi scolded the fans for being overly excited about that. He told them to quash any KKL notions that they may have.
5. Koichi showed another picture of Pan, and said that he just received an email from his mom, scolding Pan.
Apparently when Pan is in a new surroundings, she'd forgot her toilet training. So it seemed that Pan pooped in Koichi's mom's hallway, and Koichi's mom's dog mistook that for food.
6. Koichi started on F1 talk - he mentioned that for him 8/30 is not about election, it's the Belgium GP. But apparently the audience's lack of interest was so obvious that he quickly stopped. Then he asked what the audience was interested in, and the response was (obviously) "Ko-chan!!".
He pretended to be appalled by that, but then laughed and chided himself for being "the only idol who'd scold the fans for being interested in him".
7. Before "Temperamental Fool", Koichi mentioned that he received an email from Tsubasa's manager, telling him that Tatsumi can also do a pretty good Koichi impersonation. So he called Tatsumi back on stage to show it. Yonehana, Machida and the other 3 M.A.D boys came out to watch Tatsumi doing an impersonation of "Koichi wearing headset and dancing excitedly", and it did look pretty similar. Koichi said he got goosebumps watching it cos it's really embarassing. Then he asked Tatsumi to teach him how to do Tsubasa pose. So then all 7 of them practiced Tsubasa pose. Koichi got excited, and said that they should do that somewhere during the rest of the program - but he refused to be specific about the timing.
In the end, Koichi did the pose 4-5 times during the 2nd half of the performance.
8. Koichi started to recount the contact lens incident, but he said it happened on 8/30, so the audience interrupted him and said it was on 8/29. He pretended to be angry and said that the important point is about the contact lens falling out, not about when it happened. He said he thought his eyes were bad, but since he was able to spot the fallen contact lens, perhaps they weren't as bad as he thought. He said he was glad he found the lens, cos he didn't bring a spare - and this elicited a shocked response from the audience, to which Koichi innocently asked "I shouldn't do that?".
9. Koichi asked M.A/M.A.D boys about what they did during the break between the two shows on 8/31. Most of them answered "sleep", except for one guy (I don't remember his name - Matsuzaki?) who said he didn't because he wouldn't be able to sleep at night otherwise. Then Yonehana (?) asked Koichi what he did during break, and Koichi gave a vague answer "this and that".
10. Koichi said he heard that M.A/M.A.D went to Universal Studio Japan, and they confirmed it. He said that he heard they caused quite a stir. He asked them what rides they went on, and Tatsumi said "Spiderman", "Jurassic Park", "Backdraft", and one more that I can't remember. One of the M.A.D member (Matsuzaki?) said he's a dinosaur maniac since his elementary school days - he did a paper on dinosaurs, so Koichi asked him what kind of stuff he researched about dinosaurs. He said the names, the weights, and how nobody know what their actual colors are - to which Tatsumi replied that he's heard that last bit from Koichi some time ago.
Tatsumi (?) mentioned that at the "Backdraft" ride, a middle-aged guy next to him was wearing a T-shirt with the words "fire-fighting spirit (火消し魂 - if I remember correctly)", which they found interesting.
11. Koichi asked M.A/M.A.D about their dinner at a family restaurant. Yonehana said that initially the staff told them that they'd be taken to eat Osaka specialty food, but in the end they were brought to the family restaurant. All 6 boys were pretty shocked and disappointed at that.
