Title: The (Random) Joe Thread
Description: Title explains it all.

Joe - May 10, 2008 12:44 AM (GMT)
hey hey, yea ive started my own thread, only cuz most of the time i have random things to say/comment on. and for the first "post" of this so-called thread ima pimp my myspace 'file cuz ive been working on a lot of music lately and would like some feedback on it. http://www.myspace.com/msmjoe is the link. right now there are 3 songs (4 technically cuz one is a remix) on there. please let me know what you think about them. and yes i know the vocals are a little messy but thats cuz the vocals mic is temporarily broken....

Congrats on getting everything together to self-produce. I've also wanted to do that, and hope to in future.

I think your vocals need a little pitch practice, and perhaps you could work on accentuating words a little more clearly.

The instrument part of the recording seems on the right track. Nothing comes immediately to mind for that part.

Keep at it. I'm jealous that you've got songs and I have only "ideas" and incomplete progressions, completely without words. (:

It's interesting to hear a percussionist's songwriting. Kaki King, for instance, is very interesting and seems to emphasise complex rhythmic ideas within her work, with a very different ear for melody/chord progressions than other guitarists I've listened to.

Oh I know I need work on vocals, particularly the pitch. I've only been singing for a little while now. If the one mic I'd normally use for recording vocals is in service there wouldn't be trouble hearing the words, because I'm using a standard mic for vocals and it doesnt really work too well for recording but I just wanted to get the songs complete.
As of right now, I'm working on two more songs, that are complete as far as music goes. Just dont have lyrics yet, but I'm workin on them.

ok, its been a little over a week, but its because i was working on this one particular song that has piano in it (and i dont play piano so it took me awhile for it to click for me)

its called "Still Breathing" and these are the lyrics

So here I stand barely breathing
I reach for your hand but you're not there
I'm not asking for all that much
But here I stand empty in hand
And if I can't feel you and your heart beating
I can't stop this love from bleeding
It's not my place to say love ain't fair
When all along my heart was scared

Will you remember me?
Cause I am still breathing
I've been denied too many times
Now I wonder if you can hear me

As we fill our hearts up with hope
We're only falling deep into this hole
And as I fall faster and faster
Colliding with only disaster
It's not my place to say you don't care
When all along you're right there

Will you remember me?
Cause I am still breathing
I've been denied too many times
Now I wonder if you can hear me
You're listening to the sound of my heart
Breaking down into the ground
The illusion of someone, someone like you
Killing me has become true

*once again, its up on my myspace*

and someone respond! i dont like to be the only one talking in my thread, lol (i feel so alone!)

Thats really nice Joe! Actually I can see some Katy Perry in there ;)
I need to get back into writing hm

Joe - September 19, 2008 04:21 PM (GMT)
Honestly, the song is inspired by Katy Perry. The song of a very similar name. :P
I fell in love with that song a couple weeks ago.

Dora - September 19, 2008 06:06 PM (GMT)
me too!! I could relate to it for a certain time, just cause i was giving up on stuff that was going on. She should write more songs like that:)

Joe - September 19, 2008 06:13 PM (GMT)
I agree on that she should write more songs like that. And I also love how she sings with herself in 2 slightly different pitches in the song, it adds a certain dimension to the song.
