General
Name:
Adrian Laftháin
Gender: Male
Race: Half –drow elf, half human
Alignment:
True Neutral – Shifts between “good” or “evil” sides in order to help or hinder, ultimately restoring the balance of power between the two.
Demeanor: Generally conflicted; quiet and introspective in his “unaligned” state, at times amiable and caring or recklessly violent.
Weapons of Choice: Adrian wields dual magical blades, their power bound to his very being:
Nargil, Blade of Flame:
When invoked, the blade glows red-hot with fire, inflicting severe burns upon his enemies; it also gives Adrian the power to strike fear into the hearts of others, sometimes even physically manifesting their darkest fears or infecting their minds with feelings of agony and suffering.

Helegil, Blade of Frost:
When invoked, the blade glows blue, ice-cold to the touch, spreading frostbite across the flesh of any it touches; it also gives Adrian the power to heal even the most severe wounds of others.

Appearance
Eyes:
Pale blue, ones that seem to pierce your very soul
Hair: Almost white; hangs in straight tresses to his shoulders, pulled into small braids here and there
Age: Appears 20, though he is far older in actuality
Build: Averagely muscular
Height: 6' 2’’
Skin: Dark tan color, magically scarred with symbolic designs all over his body
General Appearance:
Adrian is clearly a crossbreed, his mother's long elven ears and bright white hair easily noticeable; he is a little taller than the average man, the Drow blood in him accounting for his higher-than human strength and immortality to all except wounds inflicted in battle. His skin is decidedly darker than even the most tanned Northman, though not quite as dark as the lightest Drow. He is handsome by human standards, his elven features fair and symmetrical, his chin adorned by the faintest hair.

He dresses in neutral tones, his clothing limited for easy movement in battle, yet rugged enough for journeys through the wilds. He wears heavy leather boots and black pants, and usually a sleeveless tunic or cloak to cover the designs scarred all over his body and the twin blades he keeps strapped to his back.

“Adrian the Benevolent”
When possessed by the power of Helegil to heal, Adrian's scars glow a faint blue, his eyes a deeper blue than they normally are. Healing drains Adrian's energy for a time, and he is usually weak or incapacitated afterward, depending on the severity of the wound.

“Adrian the Punisher”
When possessed by the power of Nargil, Adrian's scars glow as if burning embers, his eyes a burning red. He enters a state of blind rage to fight or defend ruthlessly, unaware of any pain or damage he sustains until the madness has passed.

Personality
General Personality:

In part because of the abilities the swords have given him as well as his elven nature, Adrian is generally more perceptive of others' emotions than most, interested in the inner workings of their minds. Out of necessity, he tries to remain impartial to those he meets, though being much of a loner he is starved for companionship and strives to be as friendly as possible in social situations. He is constantly thinking and observing, weighing the dual nature of everything, which Nargil and Helegil often alert him to.

Family
Father:
Erloys, a human [Dead]
Mother: Vathiel, a Drow elf [Whereabouts unknown]
Siblings: None that he knows of
Lover: Adrian is bisexual; none yet

Background
Story:

The lovechild of Erloys, a warrior nobleman and the Drow assassin hired to kill him, Adrian is an outcast of the elves, a misfit among men. His parents were on warring sides, his father eventually killed in battle shortly after Adrian was born. Knowing her people would never accept her half-breed son, Vathiel left him in the care of an elderly farming couple, hoping he might find a place among humans.

The couple raised him as if he were their own until he was 15 years of age, when bandits looted and burned his home, slaughtering his foster parents and taking him in as one of them. Orphaned once again, Adrian was forced to make his own way as one of the gang, his Drow blood making a name for him as an agile thief and skilled fighter.

One day, the gang heard of a particularly valuable cargo, spoils of war taken by Vargand, a conquering lord. They stole into his fortress by night, Adrian having been charged with retrieving the elven weapons, Nargil and Helegil; Vargand himself caught Adrian as he tried to make off with his prize, revealing his powers as a sorcerer as he sent Adrian to the floor with a mere wave of his hand. Vargand was a man of madness, obsessed with sin and virtue, adamant the Gods had forsaken Avalon in wake of the plague that ravaged the land. Seeing both pain and darkness in Adrian, Vargand decided to make him his instrument of justice, his own supreme rule for all of Avalon, able to sustain and destroy, a leveler.

Taking the fabled swords in his hands, Vargand bound their magic to the boy’s body, rending into Adrian’s flesh the symbols upon the blades themselves, scarring him with Nargil’s fire, stilling the burns with Helegil’s ice. Vargand smiled through Adrian’s screams, knowing his creation would atone for his own crimes as well as punish others for theirs. Vargand knew well the masks of “good” and “evil”, knew there could be no darkness without light, knew the shadowed side of the moon always lurked behind its shining face- While Adrian would be cursed to punish the wicked, so too was he blessed, given the power to help those beaten down by those that misused it.

Though he left Adrian’s mind untouched, Vargand made sure the two swords would fulfill their duty, bending the young man to their will regardless of his personal desires; through Nargil would Adrian bring wrath and destruction, benevolence and healing by Helegil’s command. Bidding Adrian to rise and take up his charge, Nargil saw fit to carry out its first duty; Vargand laughed in triumph as his mighty creation reigned sweet justice upon his former comrades, taking the lives of all who had taken the lives of many, exacting the rightful pay the bandits owed in blood, giving them a final taste of the magic blades they had sought to possess.

Adrian awoke from his blinding fever to find the bandits slain by his hand; horrified to find himself a prisoner of invisible shackles, Adrian fled into the night…
