Background
General History:
Edward Teach is a name almost erased from the history of Avalon. Once a proud noble, who fell in love with a woman, who turned out to be a retired pirate, he turned her in to save his own skin. But the story of the most feared Sailor in Avalon does not start there.
Edward was born to Lady Izabella and Lord Faulk Teach of the Open Air Market, twenty five years ago. A small timid boy, he was coddled by his mother until the age of six, when he was taken by his father to Avalon City, where he began the journey of the Teach Family. He was taught to read and write in the Avalon Library, and continued to the lands of the Avalon Royalty, and learned the sword fighting skills of the Royal Guards and Knights. At age twelve he went to barbarian village and learned the skills of the Axe, as well as hand to hand fighting. The Barbarian ways stayed with the young Edward as this was the time of his becoming a teenager. At the age of sixteen he was placed on one of his father's trading ships. There he met a young woman, roughly twenty six years of age, name Lara Blackwater.
With raging hormones he fell hard for the young sailing woman, and began a long and rigorous courtship with her. Being turned down at every turn, he did not understand why. After the captain finally considered the young boy ready, the First mate led the young Noble to be, down to the cargo hold, to see what was to be brought into the market. Up until this point he had merely been learning how to sail, navigate, and ready the ship. Now it was his time to learn of profits, and taking his father's place. Before entering the hold, the young naive boy thought of possible Breadfruit, and wine, anything but what he found. The Cargo hold was filled with slaves, of almost every race.
Shocked and appauled the boy went to Lara, who realized the boy had no idea what his father was up to. The two began planning together in secrecy. When the ship came to port, they rushed beneath the deck to the hold, and began freeing the captives. They were suddenly surprised by the First Mate, who was bigger then either of them and began stomping them into the hay that made up the floor of the cargo hold. Remembering his barbarian training, and now much larger then he had been being sent on this Journey, Edward fought back, using a large iron hook which dangled from the ceiling to puncture the man's bottom jaw, and pierce his head completely through.
As the slaves ran up on deck, the pair of young heroes had to face a new difficulty, the Captain. As Edward distracted him with laws and regulations, as well as some very handy sword fighting he had picked up in Avalon City, Lara quickly moved in from behind and killed the Captain from behind. Taking the ship, and the crew, who were now under Edward's control, as they were payed by his father, they began to sail home. However the duo came across an uncharted Island, where they were targeted by an evil enchantress, who placed a curse on the two, that Edward would let Lara down, and end her life, as well as being cursed that any room he called his own would never let him rest.
After slaying the enchantress they returned to Open Air Market, where Edward confronted his father on the Slave Trade. His father then in a fit of rage, attacked Edward, referring to him as a Bastard. However Edward was still fresh from his teachings, and easily moved aside from the strike, resulting in his father's falling out of the fourth floor window of his study. His mother, in a panic, quickly followed her husband out the window in a daring attempt to save him. This left Edward in charge of his father's Nobility, and freed him to marry the Lady Lara, who he had finally convinced of his passionate love for.
The two were married aboard the very ship they had met upon, The Wasp. Edward, now eighteen was thrust into the world of Lordship. He did his best, and the Open Air Market became the thriving city it now is. With the Lady Lara at his side, he forgot the evil enchantress' curse, and the two decided to have a child. When Edward was 21, his wife became pregnant, and the two were happy, until Royal Guards appeared at his Mansion which sat upon a hill over looking the Market. They demanded that he give up Lara, saying she was a Pirate. When she confessed her past to him, Edward felt he had no choice, and his beautiful wife was dragged out of the mansion, in tears, and swung from the gallows before night had even descended.
Unable to watch from grief, Matthew was still not free to be uncertain of when his love and unborn child, perished, their lives being stolen from them. At the moment of her demise, the mansion suddenly became nightmarish hell, that threatened to squash the Noble under his own weight. Crawling outside, he was finally able to breath. A loud roar echoed behind him as his mansion collapsed under its own weight at the new found gravity inside. In a rage, the Noble had his wife cut down from the gallows, and buried in the cemetery in a grave marked only as "Lara".
Taking the Wasp, the young Noble sailed to the north, coming to rest upon the Blizzard Coast, hoping, frantically to find the Demon's Heart. However he managed to find something else instead. A demon with such power it could only be a God. Indeed he had come across the temple of the Goddess of Vengeance. After a long argument, Black Beard was rewarded with two ships, the Devil's Heart and the Devil's Thorn, two twin ships, black as coal. He renamed The Wasp as the Queen Anne's Revenge and began sailing under Pirate Colors, seeking Revenge on the very country that had given him so much, but had taken even more.
In a very short time, Edward, and his new crew of pirates he had received from the Goddess, a group of demons, eighty thick, became notorious, so much so that even before Edward could turn 22, he was 21 when he sought Kioku, he had been given the title of Black Beard, the King of the Pirates, and he began to make the name stay true. Black Beard began looting other pirate vessels as well as ports along the Avalonian coasts. His favorite place to strike was Open Air Market, where most don't believe the destructive pirate was once their illustrious Noble.
In a crazed frenzy Black Beard began searching the seas, looking for something, anything that could send him to see his beloved Lara. His first chance came off the coast of the Sea Dragon's nest, where the fleet came upon monster-sized fight, between the legendary Kraken, and the Mother of all Sea Dragons. Thinking this could be his chance, the Pirate leaped into the water, and swam to the two fighting beasts. Having decided to start using the curse on his room to his advantage, and training inside it, it wasn't long before he had slain the two monsters, and watched them sink to the oceans floor. With a sigh he had to swim back to his ship, and set sail again.
Sailing east the group came to a small chain of islands, beautiful music rising from the rocky shores. Many of the men tried to jump over board to get to the music, but fear of the Pirate kept most at bay, all but one, who leaped off a separate vessel and survived the peril filled waters surrounding the rocks. And even brought a siren back with him. A child was born of the two, but that is a story best saved for another day. The part of this story is the cold layer of ice that surrounded Black Beard's heart would not give out to the Siren's, causing their songs to be nothing more then the beautiful chirps of birds.
As the fleet continued to pillage and plunder, he began to pick up more nicknames, and such at sea, and was raised in rank in local tales from Captain to Admiral, and from a former Noble to a former King. The attention caused bitter jealousy in a certain pirate who himself had become a bit of a Legend. An Arch-Demon, who called himself Satan, and sailed with a crew of Demons all his own. When the two met, a challenge was issued from one to the other, and place was set, the Sea Dragons Nest. The resulting challenge ended when the Demon's ship was burned, the 'Satan' was strapped to the mast, followed his ship down to the crushing depths. His crew fed to the hungry Sea Dragons that had encircled the ships.
The fight did cost him some crew members, and gave him the opportunity to get rid of others who had showed weakness in the past. Thus he sailed to the Pirate's Cove, and began taking new recruits. On his way there, he stopped to raid the Open Air Market again, as it was time to send taxes to the King, and met a woman who reminded him of his lost Lara. The Pirate Krish. The two would have been happy together, if not for the belief by both that they were the dominant pirate of the seas. In the end of the relationship, Black Beard watched as another woman he loved was brutally murdered, this time by his own hands.
It was at this point that Black Beard gained an even higher rank, this time, not amongst the pirates, but among the Pantheon itself. Black Beard had been chosen as the Guardian of Water, a fitting Title and Rank for one who deemed themselves the master of the ocean anyway. After he took his place on the Pantheon he cut his ties with the Goddess Kioku, going so far as to burn any thing of her likeness the next time he plundered a ship, and decided to send it to Davy Jones Locker. But angering a God is never a wise move, and soon Black Beard fell from the Pantheon. Docking his ships in a hidden Lagoon in Pirate's Cove.
